Biography

Allyson is inspired by the rugged Scottish landscape she grew up with. The lochs and mountains provide an ever changing tapestry of colour, light and atmosphere which she captures in oil paint. Born on the banks of Loch Lomond in 1964 she still lives and works in the area...travelling north and west whenever she can to immerse herself in the scenic beauty and collate reference photos for her work. A self taught member of Helensburgh Art Club she started painting in 2018 and loves the versatility, texture and freedom that oils bring. Palette knives and subtle blending techniques are her preferred tools and method. Her love of big skies and water have won her the Mary Batchelor Award for best seascape 2024 & 2025.
